2024 Vintage Spring Wardrobe Essentials
So many of our fashion influences come from what’s trending in the northern hemisphere, especially over Spring and Summer - i.e we get to enjoy full feelings of FOMO watching others live their best European lives while we’re wrapped in our woollies.
But the time has come.
Spring is here.
Which is why I’ve created a catalogue of vintage spring essentials: highlighting current trending must haves, and timeless wardrobe staples that will never let you down.
Let’s get started, shall we?
TRENDING
White Lace and Patchwork Pieces
With the comeback of Y2k trends we’re seeing more semi-transparent lace dresses, patchwork asymmetrical skirts, and frilly femme blouses. They’re seen back on the runway and more importantly - out in the world, sipping coffees, reading books, and sightseeing. Fashion is made to be worn, after all.
Sporty Chic
What is that exactly? At a stretch it’s considered Athleisure, however in my mind athleisure is a word coddled in errand-running-comfort. Whereas this new trend is all about merging sporty tones in with your everyday and late night outfits. Think Adam Sandler meets Carrie Bradshaw…It falls somewhere in that (rather vague) fashion realm.
Matchy Matchy Spring Sets
We’re talking those flowy short sets and fitted co-ords - but are women in suits really an original idea? The reality is that women have been donning suits for over 150 years… so you might be thinking to yourself, why is this suddenly trending again now?
Style, Darling.
A Touch of Whimsy
Exactly as the title suggest, we’re seeing outfits become more audacious with whimsical touches throughout. It’s a style rooted in self expression. Its playfulness, imagination, and unconventional pairings. Which if you are looking for true uniqueness, vintage is the perfect way to start.
TIMELESS
Spring-Ready Scarves
Audrey Hepburn once said “When I wear a silk scarf I never feel so definitely like a woman, a beautiful woman.” While wearing a scarf has moved far from needing to feel feminine or womanly, scarfs have proven time and time again to be the perfect accessory.
90’s Minimalism
If you wan’t to get technical, 90’s minimalism is actually currently trending, but this staple style goes beyond being a short lived fashion craze. The 1990’s look is all about less is more. Classic pieces range from iconic narrow sunnies to chic ballet flats - and every mini dress, quality jean, and mid-length skirt carefully layered in between.
Denim Daze
Whether you love jorts (or love to hate them) denim is always “in”. I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, quality cotton denim has the ability to out live you. So in this respect, how can it really go out of style?
Florals for Spring? Ground Breaking
Frankly, it would have been rude to neglect florals. Every single spring we see the return of blooming patterns in their most iconic form - The Dress. There’s a misconception that these dresses are only for women who like to feel feminine, and while there are plenty options out there, florals don’t have to be so “pretty”.
There are plenty of other trending style to dip you toes into, however these are our favourites to try this spring!
Until next time, Vintage Lovers xx
